Reporters learned from the Horgos initial compressor station of the Western Pipeline Company of China Oil & Gas Pipeline Network Corporation that the Central Asia-China gas pipeline has transported 43.2 billion cubic meters of gas to China in 2022. At present, the daily gas transmission is about 100 million cubic meters, which provides a strong guarantee for China's domestic natural gas market demand.

The Horgos initial compressor station is the first stop for Central Asian natural gas to enter China. It is also the common leading station of the second and third lines of China's West-East Gas Pipeline and the heart and powerhouse of the whole line. The station is responsible for receiving, metering and exporting transnational natural gas from Central Asia and coal-to-gas from Yili Prefecture, Xinjiang. The pressure of the natural gas pipeline in operation reaches 12 MPa. At the same time, the total power of 8 natural gas compressors in the station exceeds 240 megawatts, which can add kinetic energy to more than 2,000 cubic meters of natural gas per second.

Jin Yaohui, secretary of the Party branch of the Horgos operation area of the Western Pipeline Company of China Oil & Gas Pipeline Network Corporation, said that the staff strengthened the monitoring of the supply and demand situation and the prediction of the peak demand. Through the high-quality management of the equipment and facilities such as the accurate measurement of the gas quality and gas volume at the front end of the Horgos initial compressor station, the stable operation level of the pipeline network was continuously improved. All efforts were made to ensure the supply of natural gas, which will ensure that about 100 million cubic meters of natural gas are transported safely and smoothly to various provinces, regions and cities in China every day.

The Central Asia-China gas pipeline is China's first cross-border energy channel for natural gas imported by land. It starts from the border between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in the west, crosses central Uzbekistan and southern Kazakhstan, and enters through the Horgos port in Xinjiang, China. It is connected to the second and third lines of the West–East Gas Pipeline through the Horgos compressor station. It has effectively guaranteed the gas consumption of residents of 27 provinces, regions and cities along the downstream pipeline and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Ma Lei, deputy chief of the comprehensive business section of Horgos Customs, said that the customs gave priority to handling the customs clearance procedures for imported natural gas, and implemented the joint supervision of the China and Kazakhstan Customs through regular verification and measurement system and “on-site + remote video + inspection report” method to ensure the safe and smooth flow of national energy channels.
