Pipe cutting equipment often has preset ideal dimensions, but PIPE TRADE FAIR 2024 understands that pipe products rarely perfectly match these dimensions. To prevent the laser head from colliding with the workpiece and to ensure precise cutting, the machine must determine the actual shape and position of the pipe, select the closest model, and then perform the cutting operation.
The LVD Strippit machine, aiming to optimize the direction of the pipe relative to the weld seam, has added two cameras on the machine for positioning. It determines the shape through the chuck position and the bracket position and uses a laser measurement system to measure the curve.
PIPE TRADE FAIR 2024 learned that it is also the first machine with two loaders on one machine, one for bundling and one for loading single pipes. This offers different choices for the operator. Even during the process of using the bundle loader, work can be interrupted, paused for a while, and continued after urgent tasks are completed.
Bystronic has installed four chucks. When the laser head is finishing up with one pipe, a new chuck can be loaded so that the machine's operation will not be interrupted, thus speeding up the loading and unloading process.
In addition, it uses a floating spindle, allowing the machine to adapt to individual workpieces' bends and twists, while putting less pressure on the chuck, improving the accuracy of the cutting area.
TRUMPF's TruLaser Tube 7000 can complete hole tapping in heavy-wall tubes and friction drilling and tapping in thin-wall tubes. These additional features expand the machine's usability. Additional tools are provided. It also has a replaceable spindle that slides into the workpiece, protecting the inner wall from splashes generated during the cutting process.
