How does the company effectively fill vacancies and hire and train talent? The third resource is closely related to the second: the flexibility of personnel and equipment. How many production shifts can workers be organized into? If needed, can more shifts be added? Conversely, can the company optimize processes to produce the required products within one shift, thereby eliminating the need for a second shift?

 

The fourth resource is equipment, including how the company measures efficiency and maintenance costs.

 

Fifth involves external resources. This includes how to manage relationships with external customers and external suppliers (such as powder coating and electroplating vendors) during peak workshop production times. To significantly enhance efficiency, outsourcing the finer details of work is unavoidable.

 

Each of the five resource areas can be considered a "knob" to adjust to meet customer demands.

 

For example, a downstream operation workshop that lacks ample space but has available labor could invest in some ultra-high-power lasers for forming, welding, and assembly operations, which can be expanded into multiple shifts during peak demand periods.

If additional shifts are not an option, investing in automation equipment for the workshop could allow laser cutting equipment to operate unattended over the weekend, thereby ensuring timely delivery of pipe parts.
